Students from outside Europe should subscribe to a health insurance plan that is valid in Portugal.

In accordance with the agreement signed between Portugal and Brazil with regard to social security, Brazilian citizens can benefit from health protection in Portuguese territory. For this purpose, students should apply to the right to medical care certificate (BR / PT 13, formerly PB-4) before leaving Brazil. The BR / PT 13 form can be requested from the health departments or health centers of the city of residence.

Private insurance or the BR / PT 13 form is required for access to regular or emergency healthcare, health centers and public hospitals in Portugal.
